CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Young Harris College women’s cross country team competed Friday (Sept. 30) afternoon at the Charlotte Cross Country Invitational at the McAlpine Park.
The Mountain Lions finished with 929 points in the 36-team field. The 5K race featured teams from NCAA Division I and II as well as NAIA institutions. Virginia Tech won the team title.
Erica Brooks was the top Mountain Lion runner on the 5K course as she placed 199th out of the 289 runners that competed with a time of 20:51.52. Zeddy Jepkosgei finished in 201st place with an effort of 20:53.75 while Stacey Keahon came in 238th with a time of 22:11.15. Alison Missler was next in 241st place with a time of 22:25.29 followed by Heather Richbourg (258th, 23:35.84), Kristin Fuhs (264th, 23:53.35) and Nicole Webb (267th, 24:03.96).
The Mountain Lions return to action Oct. 8 when they travel to Augusta, Ga., for the Jaguar Invitational at 8 a.m.
