Mountain Lions claim Toccoa Falls meet

TOCCOA FALLS, Ga. – The Young Harris College women's cross country teams won the Toccoa Falls Eagle Invitational Friday (Oct. 7) afternoon.

The Mountain Lions captured the team title for the 5K event as they had four runners finish in the top seven.

Erica Brooks was the top runner for Young Harris as she completed the course in a time of 21:57, seven seconds behind Toccoa Falls College's Clessie Kendrick. Brooks led most of race and actually stopped because of confusion with direction of course. She was caught and passed by Kendrick, who was more familiar with the course. Zeddy Jepkosgei came in fourth place for the Mountain Lions with a time of 22:43 while Stacey Keahon finished sixth (23:00) and Alison Missler was next in seventh (23:01). Heather Richbourg registered a top-finish in 18th place with a time of 24:36 with Nicole Webb and Kristin Fuhs coming in 22nd (24:56) and 23rd (24:57) place respectively.

The Mountain Lions return to action Oct. 22 when they travel to Rome, Ga., for the Southeast Classic at 9 a.m.
