Plevako, Dawson named to All-Peach Belt teams

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Young Harris College had two women's tennis players named to the All-Peach Belt Conference teams.

Six doubles teams and 13 singles players were recognized as all-conference. The teams were selected by the league's head coaches and they were not permitted to vote for their own players.

Jane Plevako was selected in singles to the first team while her teammate Charlotte Dawson was a second-team choice. Plevako and Dawson were also picked for the second team in doubles.
Plevako, a sophomore from Astana, Kazakhstan, compiled a 18-5 record at No. 1 singles for the Mountain Lions, Plevako, who is currently ranked 15th in the latest ITA NCAA Division II singles rankings, also advanced to the quarterfinals at the USTA/ITA Regional Championship last fall.
 
Dawson, a sophomore from Odessa, Texas, finished the second with a 17-5 mark at No. 2 singles for Young Harris. Dawson is currently 18th in the latest ITA NCAA Division II Southeast Regional singles rankings.
 
Plevako and Dawson, who are ranked 17th nationally by the ITA in doubles, were the top doubles team for the Mountain Lions as they amassed an 18-5 ledger.
 
Young Harris, which is ranked No. 34 as a team by the ITA, finished the season with a college-record 16 wins (16-4) and they finished in fourth place in its first season in the Peach Belt with a 10-3 record.
