Mountain Lions claw past Bearcats 5-3

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Young Harris College captured four singles matches as they rallied for a 5-3 women's tennis victory over Lander University Tuesday (Feb. 21) afternoon at the YHC Tennis Complex.

The Mountain Lions won their second consecutive match as they improved to 5-3, while the Bearcats fell to 3-2. Young Harris returns to competition Saturday (Feb. 25) when they travel to Hickory, N.C., for a 2 p.m. match against Lenoir-Rhyne University.

Lander had taken a 2-1 lead after doubles after Eliza and Raissa Adusumilli outlasted Lina Parra Pava and Stormy Dvorak at in a tiebreaker 7-3 to win No. 3 doubles 9-8.

The Mountain Lions responded by winning four of the five singles matches that were completed. Jane Plevako, Charlotte Dawson, Parra Pava and Katie Bryant each picked up straight-set victories for the Mountain Lions.
