ROME, Ga. – The Young Harris College women’s golf team is eighth after Monday’s opening round of the Rome News-Tribune Invitational at Coosa Country Club.
The Mountain Lions shot a first-round 339 as Shorter University is first with a 298. Lee University is second with a 304, followed by West Georgia (318), Cumberlands (320), Birmingham Southern (329), Huntingdon College (330) and Oglethorpe (335). Berry College (368), Truett McConnell (388) and Reinhardt (410) rounded out the field.
Rachel Mason led Young Harris with a 38 on the front nine and a 41 on the back for a 79 to be in 11th after the first round. Courtney Moore (40-42—82) is tied for 23rd, while Kelsey McEntyre (46-39—85) is tied for 33rd. Carol Raterman (tied for 47th) fired a 46-47 for 93, and Katie Bludworth (53rd) shot a 46-49 for 95.
Shorter’s Greta Lange leads the field with a 69.
