Mountain Lions unplug Sabers 69-31
YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Jordan Moss scored a career-high 19 points as the Young Harris College women's basketball team easily defeated Barber-Scotia College 69-31 Saturday (Feb. 11) afternoon at the YHC Basketball Arena.
The Mountain Lions improved to 19-3 and will next play Thursday (Feb. 16) when they travel to Chattanooga, Tenn., for a 6 p.m. contest at Tennessee Temple University.
Young Harris scored the game's first 13 points in the opening four minutes of the contest and never looked back. After the Sabers scored their first basket, the Mountain Lions reeled off 10 unanswered points to take a 23-2 lead on an Arielle Thomas jumper with 11:25 remaining. Young Harris led by as many as 26 points (37-11) in the first half on a Miata Askew jumper with 58 second left.
Moss gave Young Harris its largest lead - 40 points (68-28) - on a layup with 2:26 remaining in the contest. The Mountain Lions limited the Sabers to 18.2 percent (12-of-66) shooting from the field.
Moss, who went 7-of-8 from the floor, also recorded her first double double as she pulled down 11 rebounds. Peyton Robertson also scored in double figures with 11 points while Keta Robinette finished with nine. Haley Taliman led Barber-Scotia with 11 points while Darrian Bush added 10.
