YOUNG HARRIS – The Young Harris College women’s basketball team takes to the court, 5:00 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 10 at the YHC Basketball Arena against Hiwassee College as the Mountain Lions seek the season sweep of the Lady Tigers.
Young Harris (7-12) comes into the game off a 71-66 loss on Saturday at North Greenville University.
The Mountain Lions jumped out to an eight-point lead in the first half, but then had to rally from a 15-point deficit in the second half before falling to the Lady Crusaders. Lauren Smith paced Young Harris with 14 points, while Nikki Winn and LaDondra Johnson each had 13. Breanna Gleeson scored 11 points as the Mountain Lions shot 43 percent.
This will be the second meeting in the series against Hiwassee College as the Mountain Lions roared to a 71-33 rout of the Lady Tigers on Jan. 19. In that contest, Winn, a former Towns County High School standout, paced Young Harris with 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting, while dishing out five assists. Johnson added 12 points and Gleeson scored 10. Missy Conrad, a native of Young Harris, Ga., finished with a season-high 14 rebounds as the Mountain Lions were 26-for-63 shooting for 41 percent.
Blaina Tallent led the Lady Tigers with nine points as Hiwassee shot 23 percent.
