YOUNG HARRIS – Emily Wilson found the perfect way to celebrate her 21st birthday as she had a solo home run in the opening game of the doubleheader Wednesday against Berry College and followed that with a game-tying, two-out, two-run homer in the seventh inning of the second game as the Mountain Lions swept the Vikings, 1-0 and 3-2 at E.D. Rivers Field.

In the opener, Emily Wilson belted a solo home run to left in the bottom of the first inning on her 21st birthday and the Mountain Lions rode the arm of Lisa Wilson to get the 1-0 win.

Wilson (6-12) went the distance, surrendering just one hit, while walking three and fanning three to get the win.

Caillee Shamoun (12-6) took the loss in six innings. She gave up one runs on seven hits, striking out six.

In the second game, Berry (19-11) scored a run in the second and third to grab a 2-0 lead.

Young Harris (19-25) rallied in the bottom of the seventh as Caitlyn Bass opened the frame with a single, but was out at second when Kayla Jones reached on a fielder’s choice. Wilson followed with a two-run shot to left, tying the game at 2. Erin Vrooman singled and Brittany Allen, who went 2-for-4, doubled to left center, moving Vrooman to third. Amber Blackman singled down the left field line for the game-winning hit as Vrooman scored, giving the Mountain Lions a 3-2 win.

Victoria Sink (11-11) earned the win with a complete-game, five-hitter. She gave up a pair of unearned runs, fanned seven and walked one.

Andrea Cole (7-5) took the loss in 6.2 innings. She surrendered three runs on 10 hits, with two strikeouts and a walk.
