CARY, N.C. – The Young Harris College men’s cross country team placed ninth Saturday at the Great American Nike Festival at Wakemed Soccer Park.

The Mountain Lions garnered 266 points in the 8K race to place ninth as Duke won the meet with 26 points. UNC-Pembroke was second with 74 points, followed by Guilford (87), The Citadel (91), Longwood (124), Washington and Lee (128), Montreat (250) and NCSU Club Cross Country (265). Ohio Valley (271), NCSU Club Cross Country-B (289) and Methodist rounded out the 12-team field with 292 points.

Brandon Banks was the first Young Harris runners to cross the line, finishing 48th in 28:40.7. Trent Jones and Levi Gentle were 63rd and 64th, respectively in 29:23.4 and 29:25.5. Tim Montgomery was 66th in 29:32.7 and Terry Miller was 68th in 29:39.2. Tyler Gunnin placed 82nd in 31:28.7 and Will Clements took 87th in 31:49.

Duke’s Dominick Robinson won the meet and beat out Pardon Ndhlovu of UNC-Pembroke for the individual crown. Robinson crossed in 24:43.4, while Ndhlovu came in 24:50.8.
