Ciaran Traquair begins his third season as the assistant coach for the Young Harris College men's soccer program.

Traquair, who has earned the SFA Early Touches License, NSCAA National Diploma, is no stranger to Young Harris as he was an assistant coach with the women's program in 2007.

After leaving Young Harris, he became an assistant coach for the men's team at Shorter University from 2008-10.  The Hawks captured their first-ever Southern States Athletic Conference regular-season title during his first season in 2008.

The Coatbridge, Scotland, native graduated from St. Ambrose High School in 2003, where he was twice a national finalist. He played for Greenock Morton FC of the Scottish First Division prior to coming to the United States on a scholarship.

He was a member of Shorter's inaugural team, and was the first European player to play at the program.While at Shorter, Traquair was a two-year captain and a three-time team Most Valuable Player. He holds the record for most assists in program history and led the nation in that category during the 2006 season with 17.

Traquair gained several accolades while at Shorter, including being named 2004 SSAC All-Conference Honorable Mention. In 2005, he was named SSAC All-Conference Second Team and wrapped up his career with a SSAC All-Conference First-Team selection in 2006.

After graduation from Shorter with a bachelor's degree in business administration in 2007, Traquair played semi-professional soccer for the Mississippi Brilla FC of the PDL League in 2008 and the Chattanooga FC of the NPSL in 2009. He also obtained a master's degree in business administration and managment in 2010.

In addtion to his playing and coaching career, Traquair worked two years coaching club soccer at Rome Arsenal YMCA as the head coach of the Under-17 select team. He also worked with various groups of younger kids at the academy level.

Traquair and his wife Lakyn reside in Young Harris, Ga.
